Description:
If you’re looking for microgreens with character, Mizuna microgreens are just what you need. Their unmistakable aroma with a sharp, wasabi-like note makes them a real highlight on sushi, ramen, or Asian bowls. Fast-growing, dark green, and rich in valuable nutrients, they are a must-have for anyone who loves spice and cares about a healthy diet. Mizuna belongs to the cruciferous vegetable family – like mustard, radish, and wasabi. The microgreens of this variety have the typical sharp, mustardy flavor , strongly reminiscent of fresh wasabi. They are pleasantly balanced: intense, but not overpowering. Behind the spicy flavor lies a true superfood : Mizuna microgreens are particularly rich in iron, calcium, plant-based protein , and vitamins such as A, C, and K. This combination supports the immune system, bone structure, and cell regeneration – perfect for an active, healthy lifestyle. Whether on sushi, in ramen, with grilled tofu, or as a crunchy topping on potato dishes – mizuna provides an exciting contrast. The mini plant also makes an excellent green highlight on an appetizer platter or in flavorful herb butters.
The organically certified seed pads are produced exclusively for the Heimgart gardening system. They consist of a natural fibre pad and organic seed which is fixed and positioned with a natural binding agent. If seeds come loose when the pad is unpacked, this isn’t a problem: simply spread them on the seed pad before covering them with the cultivation covers.
With the Heimgart Starter Kit and the seed pads for microgreens, it only takes a few minutes to get the microgreens growing. Two seed pads are intended for use with the starter kit. Once the two seed pads have been placed in the porcelain bowl and watered, the first young leaves sprout after just a few days, providing variety and a healthy spiciness on the plate.
This is how easy it is to grow the microgreens:
Fill the porcelain bowl with water up to the mark. Place two seed pads on the stainless steel insert and place it in the porcelain bowl. Now cover the seed pads with the two included cardboard cultivation covers. These protect the seeds from light and create an optimal microclimate ideal to support the seedlings’ growth. Now it is time to relax. Leave the microgreens covered at room temperature for at least 3 days and let them germinate in peace. As soon as the covers are pushed off by the microgreens, usually after 3 – 4 days, you can remove them completely, so that the plants get sunlight and start to turn green. After 5 – 7 days you can harvest and enjoy your microgreens.
The elegant and compact porcelain sprouting bowl is dishwasher-safe and an eye-catcher on any table or windowsill. This kitchen garden creates culinary delights with a minimum of effort.
All components of Heimgart – from the sprouting bowl to the seed pad – are produced and processed in Germany. The seeds are certified organic like the whole seed pad, which is made of natural fibre unwoven with a linen wick.
